Privacy Policy

Tack a Task is a small, independent project — not a company. This page explains, in plain language, what information the app collects and what happens to it.

What's collected

Name — shown back to you in the app ("Welcome, [name]") and stored encrypted.
Email address — used to log you in and for password reset emails. It's encrypted before storage; a separate one-way hash is kept alongside it purely so the app can look up your account when you log in, without ever storing your email as plain, readable text.
Password — never stored as plain text. It's run through a one-way hash (bcrypt) before it's saved, so it can't be read back by anyone, including whoever runs this app.
The notes you create — titles and checklist items are encrypted before they're stored, so the raw database doesn't hold readable text.

What isn't collected

There are no ads, no analytics, no third-party trackers, and no selling or sharing of your data with anyone. The only outside request the app makes is to Google Fonts, to load the typefaces used on the page — Google may log that request the same way any font request does across the web.

Sign-in and local storage

Your browser stores a login token and a couple of display preferences (like your board color) locally, so you stay signed in and the app remembers your settings. This isn't used for tracking — it just makes the app work.

How long data is kept

Your notes stay until you delete them yourself. Deleting a note removes it immediately. You can also delete your entire account at any time from the account menu in the app — this permanently removes your login and every note you've made, and can't be undone.

Security

Passwords are hashed, note content is encrypted at rest, and the connection between your browser and the server is encrypted (HTTPS). No system is perfectly unbreakable, but reasonable care has been taken.

Not for children

This app isn't directed at children and isn't intended for use by anyone under 13.

If this policy changes in any meaningful way, this page will be updated with a new date at the top.
